Renewable Energy

Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) help companies to meet their renewable energy targets and support renewables globally.

Hundreds of companies have set renewable energy commitments. Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) enable them to immediately and effectively meet their targets and support the generation of renewable energy globally.

Renewables are the second largest contributor to global electricity production, accounting for 30% of generation in 2020, after gas and ahead of coal, nuclear, and oil.

Energy Attribute Certificates

Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) enable companies to reach renewable energy and emission reduction targets while contributing to the growth of clean energy worldwide. They ensure renewable energy generation is tracked effectively, to support credible claims of renewable energy use.

Each EAC tracks 1 megawatt hour (MWh) of renewable energy from production through to consumption and retirement on third-party registries, to reliably evidence your renewable energy claim. EACs are categorized by where and when they are generated and where they can be used.

North America and Europe

We deliver a wide range of renewable energy solutions to meet our clients’ requirements for high-quality, global EACs that match their consumption, including Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) in North America, Guarantees of Origin (GOs) in Europe, and Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs) in the UK.

Rest of the world

The International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC) provides the tracking systems required for reliable, credible use of renewable energy outside North America and Europe. Climate Impact Partners is the leading supplier of I-RECs globally, through its comprehensive renewable energy portfolios developed for clients.

Tradable Instruments for Global Renewables (TIGRs) is another system available for renewable energy use, where RECs, GOs and I-REC are not available.

With our commitment to 100% renewable energy and carbon neutrality, we're on the next stage of our journey towards delivering a net positive impact.

What we offer

Climate Impact Partners works closely with clients, project developers, and the I-REC Standard to bring new projects online in emerging countries and accelerate the deployment of renewable power generation around the world. Having completed some of the first transactions of I-RECs in 2015, we have continued to build widespread adoption of the standard across a number of countries, including China, Israel, Uganda, the Philippines, Brazil, India, Singapore, and Vietnam.

Our commitment to quality

Our sourcing expertise, unrivaled network of partners, global product portfolio and industry experience allow us to create a renewable energy solution that delivers the best value for your business in terms of technology, location, and the size and age of the power plant.

All our renewable energy solutions guarantee that certificates have not been double-counted, double-issued, or double-claimed. They are tracked and retired on third-party registries and are underpinned by leading standards which verify renewable power projects. We are also licensed to sell Green-e® Energy and EKOenergy-certified energy attribute certificates, which bring additional quality criteria to your renewable energy claim.
