Events We Attended at COP22

Jonathan Shopley, Managing Director, Natural Capital Partners participated in the following events during the first week of COP22.

Reimagining Environmental Commodities: Technology's Impact on Standards, Verification and Reporting | 10th November | 10.15 - 11.45am (GMT) | IETA Pavilion

Jonathan joined a panel session exploring the impact of technology innovation on the scale, transparency and integrity of environmental commodities and reporting. The panel used the forthcoming Methane Assurance Standard for Natural Gas Production as a basis for discussion. Jonathan was joined by speakers from CDP, EOS Climate and the American Carbon Registry.

The Future of the Voluntary Market | 11th November | 9.30 - 11am (GMT) | IETA Pavilion

Jonathan moderated a panel session exploring how voluntary offsetting will deliver impact under the Paris Agreement through financing high quality emission reduction projects and contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals. The panel included speakers from BP Target Neutral, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) and the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA).

Financing Low Emissions and Sustainable Development: Compliance Carbon Markets Built on Voluntary Offset Programme Innovation and Infrastructure | 11th November | 2. 30 - 3.30pm (GMT) | IETA Pavilion

Reflecting on the compliance offset programmes in California and Washington, Jonathan moderated a panel session exploring the important role of voluntary offset programmes to support compliance markets in delivering climate and sustainable development results for corporations and jurisdictions. The panel included speakers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of State and the American Carbon Registry.
