With 20 years’ experience and a global network of project partners, we work with our clients to deliver high quality solutions that ensure immediate, positive impact on the world’s natural capital.
We were the first to provide a clear set of guidelines for businesses to achieve carbon neutrality, in 2002, and every year since then we’ve continued our commitment to providing a robust framework for credible carbon neutral statements. As carbon neutrality increasingly takes centre stage to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees, The CarbonNeutral Protocol remains an important pragmatic guide for businesses around the world.
We are pleased to announce the release of the 2019 version of The CarbonNeutral Protocol, providing businesses with the assurance that their carbon neutral action is clear, transparent and of the highest quality. The Protocol is revised and updated annually to reflect developments in climate science, international policy, standards and business practice.
We are privileged to work with businesses such as Sky, Bain & Co., Wessanen, CHEP and Bettys & Taylors Group who have all benefited from carbon neutral programmes that demonstrate climate leadership while supporting impactful carbon finance projects which align with key business objectives. From engaging customers and employees, to improving efficiency and future proofing the business, more and more companies are realising the benefits of becoming carbon neutral.
Jonathan Shopley, Natural Capital Partners’ Managing Director for External Affairs, commented: “Companies are increasingly using carbon neutrality to establish a price on carbon; to shift climate action from compliance or corporate responsibility responses to business strategy through the management of business risk and opportunity; and, to earn the reputational benefits from delivering action and impact.”
We have added two new case studies to the Protocol, including one of the largest software companies in the world, VMware, which achieved its CarbonNeutral company status two years early. Saskia Feast of Natural Capital Partners commented: “With leading international companies like VMware becoming CarbonNeutral, we get closer to carbon neutrality being the new normal, as smart companies see that it can be done and follow suit to address emissions from their own operations.” In addition, Dentons UK and Middle East has become a CarbonNeutral company and is using this to demonstrate to its wider company group, peers and stakeholders that it’s serious about climate action.
