Natural Capital Partners and ClimateCare shortlisted for Better Society Awards

19 October 2021

We’re delighted to announce that ClimateCare & Natural Capital Partners have been shortlisted for this year’s Better Society Awards, recognising the quality and impact of our work with clients and project partners to deliver offset programmes.

Natural Capital Partners and ClimateCare shortlisted for Better Society Awards

The nomination for best Carbon Reduction or Offset Programme of the Year, is our first as a merged organisation. Our combined company delivers some of the largest carbon offsetting programmes in the world and together we have been responsible for the reduction of more than 100 million tonnes of CO2e. We serve over 500 clients across six continents to meet ambitious climate goals that deliver value for people and nature.

"We are delighted to be recognised for the quality of our solutions and work with climate-leading clients to finance and develop projects delivering results and impact right now," says Vaughan Lindsay, CEO of Natural Capital Partners and ClimateCare. "With expert partners on-the-ground, we are reducing emissions, conserving and restoring biodiversity, and working with communities to improve health and livelihoods and ensure we deliver a measured, verified and immediate positive impact."

Our 14Trees Sustainable Construction Project in Malawi that we verified to The Gold Standard, has also been shortlisted, not just once but twice, for both the Built Environment and Environment Award, recognising its innovative approach to transforming the building sector in Malawi and beyond.

A joint venture between LafargeHolcim and CDC, the UK's publicly owned impact investor, the project is the first of its kind to certify the greenhouse gas emission reductions from innovative brick manufacturing methods and technologies through the Gold Standard and paves the way for others to follow. Durabric® is a low carbon soil-stabilised brick that can be made on any construction site using just earth, sand, cement and water. This completely eliminates the need for kiln firing, and saves an average of 55 tonnes of CO2 and 14 trees for every house built. To date, over 3 million Durabrics have been used, saving a total of 25,000 tonnes of CO2 and 7,000 trees. This helps tackle climate change whilst reducing the rate of deforestation in the country. And it’s not just the environment that benefits – over 500 safe homes and buildings have now been built using the technology and the project provides skilled employment and training to local workers.

We’d like to congratulate all the organisations that have been shortlisted for the awards in recognition of their work to make real change possible and harness the power of business to build a more sustainable world.
