PeruModa is the main event of the Peruvian fashion industry. It is a platform to promote direct contact between Peruvian export companies and international buyers from all over the world. The event showcases the best of the Peruvian export supply in apparel, footwear, accessories and jewellery and is produced by Classis Corp.
PeruModa 2014 represents a milestone in sustainability for Peru. Besides being the first governmental event to achieve verified carbon-neutrality, the event also:
- Has neutralized the largest amount of event CO2e emissions to date (about 2800, or 28 times the amount neutralized by a previously popularized event;
- Is the first to achieve certification from a world-renowned institution (The CarbonNeutral Company) under a rigorous standard (The CarbonNeutral Protocol); and
- Has made use of top-quality offsets (VCS certified and registered to the Clean Development Mechanism)
Peru declared 2014 “The year for the Promotion of Responsible Industry and Climate Commitment”, and Lima will host the COP 20 in early December. Thus PeruModa 2014 achieving carbon neutrality denotes coherence with the national context for environmental management and represents a sign of joint innovation from the private sector and the government.
PeruModa 2014 will help to catalyze the gradual adoption of cutting-edge sustainability initiatives in both the private and governmental sectors in Peru.
