Large-scale technological solutions can drive efficient resource management and production of clean, renewable energy

Harnessing technology to advance sustainable development

We all know that we must reduce our dependence on fossil fuels as quickly as possible. To do so, we must take advantage of all available technologies to drive practical, scalable solutions. Businesses are financing projects that accelerate the transition to renewable energy and decrease our dependence on fossil fuels.

Our portfolio of projects

Energy attribute certificates (EACs): Representing 1 MWh of renewable energy generation, EACs are accelerating the transition to clean energy (SCOPE 2 only). Learn more about EACs here.

Responsible waste management: In low-income countries, as much as 90% of waste is openly dumped or burned, and emissions from solid waste management accounted for five per cent of global emissions as of 2016, according to the World Bank. Solutions include landfill methane capture and converting waste to energy.

Renewable energy: Globally, about one-quarter of our electricity comes from renewables, according to Our World in Data. Carbon finance enables renewable energy projects around the world to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy. Learn more about our renewable energy solutions.

Transportation: Transport accounts for more than 15% of global greenhouse gas emissions, reports Our World in Data.

Refrigerant management: Refrigerants are one of the greatest sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Improved refrigerant management can reduce emissions and natural refrigerants offer a viable alternative to existing coolants.

Energy infrastructure: Transitioning the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity to low-carbon systems will help scale renewable energy use.

Plastic recovery and recycling: Plastic pollution is intertwined with the need to rapidly take action on climate change. Carbon finance may offer a pathway to funding collection and recycling projects.
